I’m not your savior.
I'm not your savior, whether you spend a few bucks a month on The Lucky List or $2500/mo on The Long Game mastermind.
No matter the investment, you have to show up and put something in to get something back. You gotta double down on you, first and foremost.
With that said, I'm not going to pour everything I know into blog posts anymore just to appease the SEO gods.
Maybe one day, if it makes strategic sense, someone on my team will.
But "how to" blogs attract "how to" clients that treat me like I'm ChatGPT.
That may sound harsh, so please let me clarify:
I was recently hospitalized for a health scare. This "scare" - maybe "NIGHTMARE" would be more accurate - stemmed from the joy that is Hashimoto's.
If you're not familiar, Hashimoto’s is a bitch of an autoimmune disease that causes hypothyroidism and a whole array of other issues. (Digestion probz, dry skin, mental health, you name it!)
I had some scary customer support emails when I came home from hospitalization.
People paying $5.55/mo or less for The Lucky List were in my inbox, saying they reported me for fraud because they didn't get any emails.
Cuz, you know, emails don’t bounce or go to spam. Sigh.
But just saying that would be shirking the blame, and I’m an accountable kinda girl.
I own that in reality, I did a bad job of explaining the deliverables.
The Lucky List is ONE strategy a month to be less blah in your content.
And at the time that I’m writing this, it just goes out via email. And email, as noted before, can bounce, go to spam, etc. So it isn’t perfect, but the content is JUICY!
[You can get on The Lucky List here!]
Those who complained didn't catch the fine print: They would NOT be getting an email in May because they joined during PRE-SALES and got the May email early.
My bad, but also their bad.
I don’t want to blame others, but I will always hold you accountable because we’re grown-ups.
And also - we are talking about 1 email a month for a few bucks. This isn’t life or death circumstances. So I’m going to say something that needs to be said:
Everyone "supports small business" until it's time to... actually do it. Then they want the Amazon version of things with 24/7 on-demand support, you know?
So yes - there were a few Lucky List complaints, and they made me feel like shit.
I have the kind of brain that will latch on to the ONE complaint within 293840238 compliments. Being called a scammer? That literally hurt me.
And it’s a big reason why I’m no longer solely focused on the veterinary industry. I pour so much into it, and I get shit like that in return.
Phew! Deep breath.
Let's look at the positives instead, shall we?
While I had $5.55/mo subscribers calling me a scammer and reporting transactions from my business as "fraudulent", I had a few dream clients on my side.
One of my $25k pay-in-full clients in The Long Game mastermind? She was basically offering to run the group while I was out!
That's the type of ride or die energy I look for in my clients.
My VP of operations and right hand woman, Haley, stepped up like crazy while I was out. Our whole team- our fractional CFO Lou, creative director Emily, and contractors like Emelie at Pass the Queso did. My mom also helped.
And knowing I have that kind of support? That makes me feel immune to the "YOU ARE A SCAMMER!" BS.
That's why I'm ready to go deeper with my blogs, like I have with my social media for years.
I want you to know who I am and the nitty gritty of business ownership.
I don't want to just teach you "How to build a brand in 5 steps" stuff here.
Showing my full self is how I attract dream clients who don't want a savior, but a long-term partner.
I always liken business to dating and finding your person. If you hide who you are, you're going to have some big fights in a few years when someone admits they didn't want kids or to live in Florida forever.
(One day, I'll share how I met my husband on an app and made sure he was worth going on a date by asking for dealbreakers.)
Now, I don't mean I expect my clients to have zero expectations for me.
You don’t have to blindly support me and go all Jonestown on the Kool-Aid.
I have contracts, there's always clear deliverables, and I try my best to be impeccable with my word - Four Agreements style.
But I'm a human managing an autoimmune disease and a small-but-mighty team.
And I need clients who know I'm not their savior, nor am I a Jeff-Bezos-type of entrepreneur.
I don't currently have a team of robots and humans ready to instantly deliver you everything you need to build a brand.
That's not how you build a no BS brand anyway.
Sure- you can get a logo and a tagline made by someone on Fiverr this afternoon, but that would be a red flag that you shouldn't be in my inner circle.
Now I’m not knocking you if that’s where you’re at financially.
Emphasis on Fiverr logos being a red flag for my INNER circle, which includes my 1-on-1 clients, those in The Long Game Mastermind, and those in the mini-mind version of The Long Game. I’m talking people who get direct access to me.
You can do the Fiverr logo if you’re bootstrapping and hanging on The Lucky List or the new guest pass we are offering to The Long Game. I respect that.
But managing Hashimoto's?
Yeah- that means protecting my peace at all costs.
And your logo not being at its full potential is gonna stress me right now. (Not cuz my agency didn’t do it, but because these more affordable logos come with baggage we tend to have to fix!)
Only about 15 clients have direct access to me right now, and I'm ok with that. Ideally, I think it might be even less.
I'm personally here for people who get that it's about maintaining that brand for the long haul.
My dream clients in my inner circle know that me being out for a week or so is nothing cuz we are working together for a whole year.
(My mastermind is called The Long Game for a reason, people!)
I know not everyone can spring for $2500+ a month to be in The Long Game mastermind and have my agency develop their brand.
I don't judge for that reality, but I do protect my personal boundaries.
If you think I'm a snobby bitch for that, I'd say THANK YOU and move along.
I'm not here to be everyone's BFF, and I’m certainly not your savior. I'm here to run my business, give you ways to improve your brand, and keep myself and my close relationships healthy.
I can't do that with a huge client roster. That's not a “nice” thing to say, but it's kind. There's a huge difference between being "nice" and being "kind", and I only want you in my world if you get that.
Now that we have some boundaries clarified, I do want to say I obviously know not everyone has $2500 a month to invest in their business.
This is why I launched The Lucky List where you can get one strategy a month to help you be your whole damn self in your content.
But I'm quickly seeing that the really low price point on that might actually be an issue. Those customer support emails were A LOT.
So.. tbd on how that plays out, and I'm definitely having my executive assistant handle all support emails on that after today.
However, I do want to have accessible options.
So we're creating a 3rd tier of The Long Game mastermind that will be $333 a month during this initial launch.
Full disclosure- the 3rd tier is a Guest Pass that lets you lurk the mastermind calls and be in our private Slack chat.
It DOES NOT include direct access to me, but you could have a chance to win a 1-on-1 strategy session with me, provided you're ok with me streaming it publicly.
Doors to The Long Game mastermind are going to close in a few weeks.
We’re going to spend the summer making the educational content even stronger in there.
So if you want to lock in some special pricing on the right level for you, apply now.
But remember- what you get out of it depends on what you put in. I’m not you savior, but I just might be your partner if you play your cards right. ;)
[Not ready to commit to the mastermind? Try The Lucky List instead!]
